A comprehensive technical guide to loading M3U links and Electronic Program Guides (EPG) on your media devices.
An M3U (MP3 URL) playlist is a plain text file format that contains references to media files and streaming locations. When you buy a subscription from waveiptv, we send you an M3U link that contains thousands of unique URLs—each pointing to a live TV channel or video-on-demand stream on our servers. Your IPTV player reads this link, categorizes the channels, and prepares the feeds for playback.
An Electronic Program Guide (EPG) is an interactive, on-screen guide that displays TV program listings, schedules, titles, and descriptions. EPG data is delivered as an XMLTV file. Loading the EPG link from waveiptv allows your player app to display a program grid, letting you see what is currently airing and what shows are scheduled next.
Most players will ask for your playlist type during setup. We recommend choosing the Xtream Codes API option over a standard M3U link if available. Xtream Codes parses the database faster, separates movies and live channels, and automatically links the EPG data without requiring a secondary link.
